Young West Ashley Sisters Take SUV On Joyride
A pair of sisters ages 11- and 7-years-old took, or stole depending on how you look at it, their parents SUV for a joyride last week. Fortunately, after the SUV, driven by the 11-year-old girl, flipped on its side, the girls escaped without suffering any serious injuries. Charleston auto accident attorneys came across this odd incident from an article in the Post and Courier.
According to the article, and Charleston police, the girls took the SUV from their parents home around 3 a.m. last Monday morning, an awfully late time for the young girls to be awake, let alone driving. Not long after leaving the residence, a clerk at a convenience store on Savannah Highway at Savage Road called police reporting that an SUV had struck a gas pump. The said store is a little more than three miles from the children's home.
After the initial call, police were on the lookout for the SUV when a motorist called 911 about 7:30 a.m. reporting a single-vehicle automobile accident off of Bees Ferry Road. According to the accident report, the vehicle had driven off the roadway and flipped onto its side. The location of the crash was almost four miles away from the convenience store that had made the first call into police about the SUV.
Police cited the 11-year-old for careless driving and driving without a driver's license before being released into the custody of her parents. As mentioned before the girls were extremely lucky to not have incurred serious injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment to their minor scrapes and bruises. While they escaped with minor injuries it can be reasonably said they will not escape a stern talking to and possible grounding from their parents.
